Humility – A Poem

Asking for a humble heart

Can be a scary thing

For in our world

Pride is what sings

We want to be

Number one

Numero uno

The king of our thrones

Nothing else matters

Not the dog or the bone

Asking for a humble heart

Can be a scary thing

For in our world

Pride is what sings

Our heroes are the best

Not the least of these

Our walk is heads high

Not down in the weeds

We want to be

Number one

Numero uno

The king of our thrones

Nothing else matters

Not the dog or the bone

The Seasons of Life – A Four Part Poem

The Spring

In the spring of your life

Is when your life began

From a baby just crawling

To a young adult with a plan

Maybe off to a college

Or just a local trade school

The spring of your life

Leads to the summer of you

The Summer

In the summer of your life

Everything is in full bloom

You’re workin and playin

Building a life with room

You may have a family

A good life or a career

To carry you on through

The summer of your years

The Fall

The fall is the time of life

When your days take on a chill

You’re gettin into the years

They call being over the hill

Children have moved out

It’s just you and your spouse

Learning to live and love

In a big empty old house

The Winter

The winter is the season of life

When the end is drawing near

There may be some sadness

Some joy or maybe a sense of fear

Hopefully winter is the time of life

When you look back at life and say

While the seasons were not always joyful

I would not have changed even one day

#999, Passing

I find it hard

When someone loses

A true love

To express in words

The comfort they need

Deep within their heart

You can’t say

I know what you’re feeling

When you truly don’t

You can’t ask

How are you doin’ today

When you know how they are

The best course

May be just to say

I’m here

I’m available

Ready to do my part
