#121, Old Man

I’m an old man

in need of rebuilding

You see the man I was 

    is in shambles

The walls are a 

    crumblin’, crumblin’

down

         down

                 down

The foundation has been

   shaken to the core

There are so many 

     cracks

I fear it will collapse

The good news is 

  I know a carpenter

Who knows a lot about

 rebuilding projects

I’m calling on Him 

  to help me fix the foundation 

and rebuild this old man from

     The ground up

The carpenter is the Master

   He’s been rebuilding me

minute by minute 

                 day by day

It’s taking a lot longer

   than I’d hoped and prayed

But the master knows 

           what he’s doing

So I have to be patient

    I have to be kind to myself

Step back and wait until

  the master reveals the

finished product and then

#120, Wishes

People think the Lord grants 

      wishes

like some genie in a bottle

But the Lord doesn’t grant wishes

He answers heartfelt prayers 

But don’t be fooled in asking

thinking you’re going to get

all that you want 

all that you desire

You see when God looks

at your prayer list

Every name

Every want or need

He already knows all

of our wants, 

needs 

and desires

He also knows 

where your heart 

is at with 

each prayer you ask

He knows what you need

as opposed to what you want

He knows the timing 

The answer to 

each prayer is crucial to you

   moving forward in life

So His time is not your time

Your now is His when

You have to be patient 

You realize sometimes 

    no answer 

Is an answer to a prayer

So keep asking, keep seeking

The Lord in prayer not to get

your wishes answered but to

    keep your life moving in

the right direction

hot and thirsty

moment of relief

But to my dismay

I feel so alone

    out of the 

wilderness

Color my dreams

This world seems

Well, this world I live

It is not my own

Than can meet the eye

That have all faded to grey

For that brighter day

On the other side of my life 

  Was a different me 

One with hopes and dreams

  Then what came to be

Now I’m just living in 

  the Shadows

Of those bygone days

Wishing, hoping I could relive

  My former ways

But I know there’s no going

   back

There’s no turning around

what’s past is past

What’s lost can’t be found 

Moving forward is now a

   tough life

It’s hard to go alone without 

     my wife

Still the days go by as

   times flies along

Now I’m livin’ a life 

Feelin’ like I don’t belong

Maybe life will get better

I don’t really know

All I can do is to pray

Give my heart some hope

On the other side of my life 

  Was a different me 

One with hopes and dreams

  Then what came to be

Now I’m just living in

The rhythm

From the world around

Not from 

Ideas which are tossed

Flows

From the heartbeat 

Of God’s love

Washing over us

From the Heavens above

Giving us peace

So we may

Live out our lives

The time of love may

    Come again

Or it may not

Compared to whom 

I loved

For now my thoughts 

have

Caught me living 

Back in the past

To love remembered

The love I had

Waiting, wondering

If love comes again

It might not be the same

Compared to where love

     Has been

For now that love lingers

And someday I know

Will help my heart love

   All over again

Call me back to when 

Love was well found

And so I’ve saved the 

      Old love

I no longer live for

For the music, 

The dancin, the lights

Till the wee AM

I no longer spend 

The money I earn 

On every little 

Whim, fancy or yearn 

Til it is gone
